All the traditional show favourites will return this year, but with a modern twist to ensure it is one to remember. From baby animals, pig racing, camel rides, free circus, delicious food and live entertainment, to rodeo, FMX stunt bikes, rides, sideshow alley, arts and crafts, woodchopping, lasers, showbags, rocket launches, sheep and much more.

To ensure you experience all the highlights of this year’s edition, following our last Gold Coast Show 2017 post, we have compiled a list of the Gold Coast Show 2017 top attractions to see and do at this year’s Show.

Farm animals and sheep shearing:

The kids will be entertained for hours with the cute baby farm animals, always a show highlight for children of all ages. And once the kids have had their cuddle fix with the baby animals, take the family across to see all the action as sheep shearers from across Queensland battle it out for the title of most skilled in Show.

Show bags:

What is a show without show bags? They may have changed much over the years, but show bags will also be one of the biggest drawcards for kids and this year’s popular choices provide a mix of themes with fun toys and tasty treats for all ages.

Arts and crafts:

The arts and crafts exhibition returns this year with thousands of talented locals between the age of 5 and 100 years old showcasing their skills. Marvel at the creative works on display, from cooking to horticulture, art and crafts to photography, woodwork, needlework and scrap booking and more.

Sideshow alley:

No carnival is complete without sideshow alley. Guests can try their luck at the traditional laughing clown, dart throwing competitions and much more to compete to win a giant plush elephant, teddy bear or wide selection of other prizes.

Rides:

Why not pre-purchase an all-day ride pass to get your share of thrills and spills at this year’s Show? The 110th year has plenty of rides to suit all ages, from the iconic giant swing and ferris wheel to bumper cars and much more. A limited number of all-day ride passes are now available online and can not be purchases at the gates.

Woodchop competition:

The woodchop competition is a traditional favourite running over the three-day carnival. One of Australia’s oldest sports, the popular event draws axemen and women from all over Queensland to compete in the categories; tree felling, standing block, and cross cut saw events. The demonstrations and novelty events use modern chainsaws and pit ladies against men, creating friendly competition and fun for all ages to watch.

Food stalls:

Chow down on a dagwood dog, devour fairy floss or treat yourself to hot chips or delicious cakes. And for those not overly keen on traditional carnival fare, this year’s Show offers a diverse range of gourmet options, with some of Queensland’s best food trucks in attendance at the event.

Fireworks:

Don’t miss out on the spectacular fireworks display, sure to delight show goers of all ages. What better way to end a fantastic day of fun then to witness the skies light up above the buzzing carnival atmosphere?
