Gold Coast Show

The 2017 Gold Coast Show Day celebrates the 111th edition of the event and promises a fantastic spectacle of family entertainment for visitors and locals as the region marks the occasion of Gold Coast Show Day with a public holiday.

The Gold Coast Show (GCS 2017), similar to the EKKA, is a grand family day out and consists of traditional and popular attractions and events, ranging from extraordinary fireworks displays, arts and crafts, the famous show bags, visual arts, live entertainment, circus presentation and carnival rides.

Gold Coast Show Holiday Dates:

Gold Coast Show Day public holiday in 2017 is Friday, 1 September 2017 and the event runs through the long weekend until Sunday, 3 2017. The Show falls on the last weekend of winter, making it a perfect celebration of the balmy days and pleasant spring evenings.

For some, the warm season and considerably lower winds make the Gold Coast Show a more suitable event for kids than the EKKA, but that could also be just an expression of local rivalry between the two cities, as both events are well worth a visit.

Ways to get to the Gold Coast Show:

Because of the redevelopment of the Broadlands Parkland area to host the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village, the Gold Coast Show moved in 2014, being currently held annually at the Gold Coast Turf Club at Bundall ever since, just west of Surfers Paradise, only a few minutes from Main Beach by car or public Transport.

Although the drive from Surfers Paradise to the Turf Club usually takes less than 10 minutes, during the event we encourage our friends and guests to use the Gold Coast public transport and shuttle buses available to ensure the most efficient travel time.

Meanwhile, what is the Show for kids without a sensory overload of thrilling rides, loud music and colourful show bags?

There is also a horticulture section for those wanting to learn about Australian Native Plants.

Tips and ideas of what to bring with you to the Show:

Make sure to gear up to protect yourself and your family from the sun, stay hydrated and have some warm clothes with you for the evenings, specially for the kids. Depending on your style you can leave early and bring everything with you for the day or you can stay at a central and convenient location, like Surfers Paradise, to easy navigate between the venue and your accommodation to retrieve all your needs.

For those who are coming to Queensland and experience all the atmosphere of the Show, Holiday Holiday apartments in Surfers Paradise provide a perfect base from which to extend your stay and enjoy the best of the beautiful Gold Coast while visiting for the Gold Coast Show.

Guests can take the advantage of a free car parking space underneath your Gold Coast accommodation in one of ours favourites resorts, with the Gold Coast Show just a few minutes away by public transport or car ride.
