Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast events for the upcoming months

The Gold Coast plays host to a colourful array of special events taking place over the next couple of months, promising to bring even more flavour to leisure and entertainment options in the already bustling city for both locals and those visiting for holidays.

Gold Coast September Events

This September, those visiting the Coast can add to their itinerary from a range of cultural celebrations and artistic performances and festivals.

Swell Sculpture Festival:

More than 50 sculptures both whimsical and provocative are now on display for the 15th annual SWELL Sculpture Festival at Currumbin Beach, transforming this beautiful stretch of coastline into an awe-inspiring gallery of public art.

This popular event also features great food and live music on weekends, with a fascinating program of masterclasses and workshops for those wishing to get hands-on.

SWELL is open for viewing day and night and runs to September 17, attracting around 270,000 visitors to participate in different activities and performances celebrating the Gold Coast’s cultural identity.

Make sure to check the Swell Festival Highlights to learn more about the main attractions, musical performances and workshops.

Don’t forget to book your Gold Coast Accommodation with Holiday Holiday to enjoy the best of the event, as well as all the perks of a luxury hotel experience, but with the freedom of staying in a self-contained holiday apartment.

Aida on the Beach

Planning to spend some time on the Gold Coast this September? Why not combine your stay and beach adventures with a stunning outdoor production of Aida on Coolangatta Beach in the evening?

This beautiful production from Opera Australia will be played out on the shoreline of the iconic southern Queensland beach from September 21 to 30, 2017.

This year’s edition of the popular outdoor season by Opera on the Beach presents Aida, Verdi’s famous opera performed by a stellar cast and huge orchestra.

Each performance features fireworks, colourful costumes and striking choreography, while food and beverage offerings make your opera experience truly a night to remember.

Be sure to arrive early to contemplate the sunset before settling in under the stars to enjoy this deconstructed night at the theatre.

Aida’s story of the love triangle that develops between the captured Nubian princess, the Egyptian military commander, and the pharaoh’s daughter could easily be ported to one of today’s television series or reality shows.

But it is Verdi’s powerful music and the stirring performances that see Aida retain its mantle as one of the most performed operas on the XXI century, according to Operabase.

Opera on the Beach is an initiative of Opera Australia in partnership with City of Gold Coast and Tourism & Events Queensland and in association with Bleach* Festival.

Opera on the Beach is the perfect opportunity to introduce the genre to a wider audience, with tickets and seats ranging from $35 for an allocated space on the sand (BYO chairs and mat) to $90 for premium reserve tickets.

Gold Coast Events in October:

Gold Coast 600

Supercars Championship will rock Surfers Paradise over the weekend of 20 to 22 of October 2017, with racing, presentations, live music and much more.

If the adrenaline rush of daytime practices and lightning speed races aren’t enough for you, the entertainment continues into the evenings with performances by some of Australia’s biggest names in popular music.

According to organisers, this year’s event will have a music festival atmosphere, with live concerts by Delta Goodrem and Hilltop Hoods.

Fans can opt for an all-inclusive three-day pass that gives them access to all races and the concerts, or pick their events individually.
