Getting around during the games

The public transport during the games received a great deal of attention from the organising committee and the City Council since the Gold Coast launched its campaign to host the Games. The result was the transport operations plan, which objective is to make travelling and moving around the city during the Commonwealth Games 2018 an easy and pleasurable experience for visitors and locals.

The Gold Coast transport hub is well distributed among Trams (the G-Link), buses and Trains (Translink), capable of  handling the demand, all of which will be free during the Commonwealth Games 2018. Read more information on Public Transport on the Gold Coast.

Additionally transport coverage will be achieved by encouraging users to use active ways of transport such as walking and cycling, but also by providing free shuttle buses from central locations (Such as Surfers Paradise) and main train/bus stations directly to the different venues.
